Who should join the Crossroads Venture Group?

  • Venture Capitalists VC’s – CVG is building a community where venture capitalists visit and meet each other, swap investment and portfolio ideas and discuss deals. This is being done via exclusive luncheons called the “Crossroads Club” and rotated around the state and regionally at the offices of prominent VC firms. In addition, certain CVG events will introduce them to more mature tech companies worthy of investment consideration. Speaking opportunities are occasionally offered to VC members via panel presentations held at CVG events.
  • Angel Investors – At CVG events you will meet interesting tech start-ups seeking funding and advice. Companies will come from a variety of technology verticals presenting investment opportunities to the Connecticut and regional angel investor community.
  • Corporate Investors – Like venture capitalists, this category of investor should also be looking for local tech companies to add to their portfolio. In talking to their peers and being introduced to some of the state’s more investable companies, they will benefit from introductions the CVG can broker.
  • Entrepreneurs – If you are looking for investors, CVG events are an additional way to meet angels and venture capitalists. CVG events also will bring you in contact with fellow entrepreneurs and professional services firm who can advise on an array of topics ranging from intellectual property protection to marketing strategies to finding key staff. The CVG offers three “Funding Focus” events each year where free technical and professional advice is offered to start-ups and growth stage tech companies who sign up to participate.
  • Professional Services Firms – Accountants, lawyers, investment bankers, marketing professionals who have valuable advice and technology practice areas are encouraged to become sponsors, but individual consultants in a technology practice may also join to be able to gain access to the young technology companies who participate in CVG events, particularly at Funding Focus events. At some point the CVG hopes to develop a mentoring program that will match tech start-ups with mentors who have practical expertise appropriate to the advice being sought.
  • Students – Undergraduate and graduate college students are encouraged to participate in CVG events. CVG events are often held at Yale or the University of Connecticut campuses with the specific intent of attracting students majoring in entrepreneurial studies or with an interest in entrepreneurism. CVG events present an opportunity to meet fellow students who are like-minded in entrepreneurial pursuits. CVG events also expose students to potential internships and permanent jobs in the Connecticut technology sector.
